Last night we showed Lord of War. I do not know how to define this film. I liked it, that's for sure. But first things first. Looking for the image for this post I discovered that the film supports the Control Arms campaign . Hear what he said to the director Andrew Niccol Amnesty : If you think it's easy to make a film about the arms trade, you are wrong. My new film, Lord of War, was rejected by all the major studios in Hollywood. In the end, the film has received funding independent and it was possible to finish it just because the cast - Nicolas Cage, Ethan Hawke, Jared Leto, Bridget Maynahan, Ian Holm and Eamonn Walker - have accepted a reduction in their remuneration.I have no words. However, the film recommend it: it lasts more than 2 hours but I assure you that pass, the rhythm is insistent and beautiful scenes. The plot is linearissima, do not expect surprises.
It is certainly not the kind of movie that when you see it you feel so full of feelings and ideals to want to change the world instantly. From this point of view is rather tepid, and perhaps rightly so, in fact, the arms dealers have no qualms nor repent. It seemed a bit 'surface to distribute the pills of wisdom every now and then with phrases: the dialogue between Yuri and Interpol agent (the latter spoken as a pacifist) seem to put there just to remind you what is right and what is wrong, too simplistic. I was surprised about the astronomical figure out the amount of weapons from Ukraine at the end of the Cold War: $ 32 billion! Weapons sold mainly in developing countries, African countries in the first place.
short, it is good that finally is out of a movie on the subject. Let us remember that behind these vendors are dead Western countries, that with a hand fan with the war and condemn the other.
